These terms are the agreement between you and us when you create an account, play, or buy a plan or a order pack. The refund policy, the AI disclosure and the acceptable use policy are part of them. The privacy notice explains what we do with your data.
Your account
- You must be 16 or older. When you sign up, you confirm that you are.
- An account is for one person. Don’t share it, sell it or let someone else play on it.
- You can sign up with an email address and a password, or with a Google account. Use an email address you read: we send sign-in, account and payment messages there.
- Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away.
What RiftCommand is
You command a starship and its crew through missions that turn on hard choices. You give orders in your own words, your crew answers, and the story moves on. The story is written by AI as you play; the game’s code keeps the rules and decides what your choices lead to. The AI disclosure explains how.
The game is fiction, for your personal entertainment. Nothing in it is advice. Missions can involve violence, loss and the death of members of your crew.
Plans, orders and energy
You can play free, take a monthly plan, or buy an order pack.
Free
- Price
- Free, no card needed
- What you get
- 16 energy to start and 8 more each day you sign in, up to 8. A short mission takes 8 energy. 3 officers on your bridge.
Commander
- Price
- $11.99 USD a month, VAT included
- What you get
- 150 orders each month for full-length missions. 4 officers on your bridge.
Admiral
- Price
- $17.99 USD a month, VAT included
- What you get
- 400 orders each month for full-length missions. 5 officers on your bridge.
Order pack
- Price
- $4.99 USD once, VAT included
- What you get
- 60 orders that never expire, used once the month’s orders run out.
- Every order counts as one. Starting a mission on a plan or with pack orders uses 2 orders. A free mission is paid for in energy when it starts, so its orders are already covered.
- Monthly orders don’t carry over: each billing month starts again at your plan’s allowance. Pack orders are used after the month’s orders and never expire.
- An order your crew can’t make sense of costs nothing. You aren’t charged for a mission that can’t be prepared, or for an order that doesn’t go through.
- Energy spent on a mission is not given back if you abandon the mission. Days you don’t sign in don’t add up.
- Orders and energy have no cash value and can’t be transferred, sold or exchanged.
- Coins have no cash value and can’t be bought, transferred or sold.
Prices and payment
- Prices are in USD and include VAT: the price you see is the price you pay.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
- We send a receipt for every payment to your email address.
- Plans renew automatically each month, on the day you subscribed, until you cancel. We charge the plan’s price for each new month.
- If a renewal payment fails, you keep your plan for a grace period of 7 days while the payment is tried again. After that your account moves to the free plan until a payment goes through.
- If we change a plan’s price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
Changing or cancelling a plan
- Change or cancel your plan any time from the plan page in the game (Manage plan). It opens Stripe’s billing page, which shows what changes, when, and what you will pay before you confirm.
- When you cancel, your plan stays until the end of the month you have paid for, then your account moves to the free plan. Unused monthly orders end with the plan; pack orders stay yours.
- Cancelling doesn’t by itself refund the current month. Your 14-day right to withdraw is explained in the refund policy.
Your right to withdraw
As a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw from a plan or an order pack within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. The refund policy explains how to do it, how much comes back if you have already started playing, and when a pack’s right ends early.
The story, and what you can do with it
- The game, its world, characters, names, art, sound and code belong to us or to the people who license them to us. We give you a personal right to play it while your account is open. You can’t transfer that right.
- What you type stays yours. You allow us to use it to run the game for you: to pass it to the AI that writes your scenes, and to keep it in your mission history.
- As far as we have any rights in the story written for your missions, you may keep it, quote it and share it, as long as you don’t sell it. When you share it, please say it was written by AI. For any commercial use, ask us first.
- You may not copy, resell or rebuild the game itself, except where the law allows it.
Rules of play
Play by the acceptable use policy. In short: nothing illegal or abusive in your orders, no bots or scripts, no extra accounts to collect free energy, and no attacks on the game or other players.
Changes to the game and to these terms
- The game will keep changing: new missions and features, balance changes, and changes to how the story is written, including which AI writes it. We make changes for good reasons: to fix problems, improve the game, keep it secure, or follow the law. A change to the game never costs you extra.
- If a change makes a paid plan clearly worse for you, more than in a minor way, we tell you in advance. You can then end the plan free of charge within 30 days of the change and get back the part of the price for the time left.
- The free plan’s energy numbers may change. The plans page always shows the current ones.
- We tell you by email at least 30 days before an important change to these terms applies. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before it does. A change the law or security requires may apply sooner.
When something doesn’t work
- We work to keep the game running, but it may be unavailable at times: for maintenance, when a service it relies on fails, or for reasons outside our control. Your progress is saved, and an order that doesn’t go through isn’t charged.
- If a paid plan doesn’t work as these terms describe, you have the remedies consumer law gives you: we put it right, or you can have the price reduced or end the contract. Tell us what happened.
Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings, under Account. It is permanent: your captain, crew, missions and story are erased, any plan ends at once and the rest of the month is not refunded, and unused pack orders are lost. If you are still within your 14 days to withdraw, withdraw first.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the acceptable use policy, if you use the game for fraud, or if the law requires it. Unless that would be unlawful or let harm continue, we tell you why first and give you a chance to answer.
- If we close your account for any other reason, or close the game altogether (we give at least 30 days’ notice by email), we refund the unused part of your plan and your unused pack orders.
Our responsibility to you
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss nobody could have foreseen.
- The game is for personal use, so we are not responsible for business losses such as lost profit.
- The story is fiction written by AI. It can be wrong or unsettling; don’t rely on it for decisions in real life.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it: for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or for your rights as a consumer.
Complaints and disputes
- Talk to us first, at [Contact email]. We answer within [reply time, for example 14 days].
- If we can’t settle it, you can take a complaint to the Romanian consumer authority (ANPC) through its alternative dispute resolution platform (SAL).
- If you live in another EU country, the European Consumer Centre there can help with a complaint across borders.
- The European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform closed on 20 July 2025, so we no longer point to it.
- You can always take a dispute to court.
Governing law and courts
- These terms are governed by [Romanian law: confirm]. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of that country’s consumer law where it can’t be set aside by agreement.
- Disputes go to [the competent court, for example the courts where our registered office is: confirm]. You can also bring a claim in the courts where you live, and we can only bring one against you there.
Everything else
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
- We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over the game. Your rights stay the same, and we will tell you.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms are written in English. [Romanian version: confirm whether one is required]
